Release date:January 22, 2021

On 22nd Jan 2021, SMG and Shanghai Charity Foundation co-hosted the 2020 China Corporate Social Responsibility Ceremony at Shanghai Expo Museum. Based on ESG standards, the Committee of 2020 China Corporate Social Responsibility rewarded those companies who had a great contribution to social responsibility and sustainability. We are honored that Budweiser China’s ‘Domestic Barley Farming’ Program won the 2020 China Corporate Social Responsibility Award ‘Prominent Governance - Special Contribution Award’.

‘Domestic Barley Farming’ is a project based on an innovative partnership of Budweiser APAC and Jiangsu Nongken. Budweiser APAC and Jiangsu Nongken, the eastern province’s forerunner of modern agriculture, successfully hosted the MOU signing ceremony at Xinyang Farm in Sheyang County, Jiangsu. By involving local farmer representatives as contract signatories, the two sides are going to co-drive a new round of development for China’s malting barley industry. Guests from Sheyang government, China Alcoholic Drinks Association, academic institutions, JSNK, Budweiser APAC as well as several local farmer representatives attended the ceremony. In addition, a deeply-insightful Bud Class was presented, inviting experts to provide professional interpretation on policy, agriculture and beer brewing.

As one of the organizers of the event, the Shanghai Charity Foundation's ‘China Corporate Responsibility Fund’ serves as an important platform for carrying out CSR practice in China, focusing on enterprises using their core competency to participate in solving social problems and public welfare innovation.
